It's not a club, it's a mindset.

Now, I don't know how many of you are fishermen (fisherpeople) but here is an analogy using a fishing pole...

On a fishing pole, the largest (and easiest!) hole to thread the line is the first hole, the one closest to the reel. The reel is where MAN holds the controls.

As you go up the pole with your line the holes get smaller and smaller and it gets harder and harder to thread the line. The end hole at the tip is the last to be strung. It is by this end tip that the smallest of fish can be felt! The larger holes on the pole were to guide the line up to the small hole and to give the pole strength. The small hole at the tip is to feel the fish and to know when you have a bite! The end of the pole also bends the most when there is a fish on the line. It is the part of the rod that is "way out there".

Now, let's look at our spiritual life using the fishing pole as an

example...

It takes awhile to thread our spiritual "line" to God and His ways. We have to allow ourselves to be narrowed by the Holy Spirit. It gets harder and harder to get "through" the smaller holes but as we do we find that we can feel the smallest tug from God and bend the most when the "fish" or maybe a blessing is on our line.

The base of the pole was where we had control. We had the reel and we could choose when to reel the blessing in--we thought! Even though we "thought" we were in control, we could never get that fish on the line except to "LURE" it in. If you think of God being the one who puts the fish on the end of the line then you know that no matter what you do as a fisherman; no matter how much you spend on tackle or how you rig the bait... you STILL cannot guarantee that a fish will bite. Only God can.

In our spiritual life as we get threaded through the pole and our hole becomes smaller and smaller, we can feel when a "fish" or blessing comes. We are more sensitive to the smallest tug from God. We can bend to God's will more easily the more we are "out there" at the end of the rod. We are the first to see the blessing and the action when a fish does bite.

So, even if life seems hard... like threading the fishing line through the narrow holes on the pole, remember that it is by the "narrow hole" that we can spiritually "feel" the most and get His blessings!
