Mitt Romney, Mr. Fix It or Mr. Fudge It?

By Tricia Erickson, author: Can Mitt Romney Serve Two Masters? http://www.theconservativepundit.net/?p=512

I think we can all agree that the next presidential election will be about jobs and the economy. With our downgrade to AA+, the saying “It’s the economy stupid” couldn’t be more relevant. Americans will most assuredly race in to the arms of the Savior who can fiscally save our country.

Will Mitt Romney, a.k.a. “Mr. Fix It”, be able to save us? Surface reasoning would presume that because Romney founded a private equity firm, which was touted as one of the most successful and largest private equity firms in the world, that he could be the best choice for our next President.

Such thinking could not be more amiss.

My research shows that Bain Capitol’s team did make various companies more profitable, however with some companies, factories were closed bringing about hundreds of jobs lost while Bain derived enormous fees before they folded.

In many cases, the Bain model under “Mr. Fix It” pointed to taking bank loans to sustain their outlays, then quickly drawing cash out, stripping assets while deriving high management fees and other types of payments, then selling their ownership and/or, taking the companies public. Let the cards fall where they may for the market, not the average worker.

In the case of DDi Corporation, Bain derived 36 million in profit. Romney sold his shares for 4.1 million. DDi‘s stock crashed subsequently from what was touted as poor management before the stock offering.

Romney was the quintessential, corporate jet-setting elitist that made millions off of the backs of hardworking Americans that Obama and his cohorts rally against today.

“Mr. Fix It” can run towards or from his Bain record, but he cannot fudge the mediocre, if not dismal record he earned in Massachusetts.

· Under Governor Romney, Massachusetts rated in the bottom 3 of all states, barely above post-Katrina and Michigan, in job creation.

· Under Romney’s governorship, the national average growth of output of goods and services was 13%. Romney’s output only grew 9%.

· Romney raised corporate taxes

· Massachusetts, under Mitt’s Governorship, placed in the top 3 for population loss among states

· According to the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO), under Romney, spending in the Bay State rose 20.7 percent

· Governor Romney DID NOT support the Bush Tax Cuts

· The Governor raised fees and taxes seven times during his tenure, which earned him the nickname of “Fee Fee”.

· Romney also, during a fiscal crisis in his state, imposed a 2 cent per-gallon gasoline fee, imposed an internet sales tax and legislated to facilitate the local governments within his state to raise business property taxes while claiming that he would not raise taxes.

RomneyCare in Massachusetts has also been a major thorn in “Mr. Fudge It’s” side, which is why he, up until Perry entered the race, has avoided the Tea Party.

Under Mitt’s RomneyCare Governorship:

· By March, 2009, employer backed premiums were the highest in the nation

· By 2009, the average expense for family coverage was over $15,000.00

· Peter Robinson on Forbes.com reported “In the last two years alone, spending on free and subsidized plans for low-income citizens of the bay state has doubled from $630 million in 2007 to an estimated 1.3 billion this year”

· Grace-Marie Turner, President of the Galen Institute reported on March 2010 “While Massachusetts’ uninsured rate has dropped to around 3%, 68% of the newly insured since 2006 receive coverage that is heavily or completely subsidized by taxpayers. While Mr. Romney insisted that everyone should pay something for coverage that is not the way his plan has turned out. More than half of the 408,000 newly insured residents pay nothing, according to a February 2010 report by the Massachusetts Health Connector, the state’s insurance exchange”.

· The wait to see primary care physicians for new patients rose to 44 days with some doctors refusing to accept new patients and the wait time to see specialists rose to roughly 50 days. Emergency room visits increased due to lack of availability to expediently see doctors.

·Three years after Romney’s supposed pro-life conversion, he signed a $50.00 tax paid subsidy for abortion as a part of his socialist healthcare plan.

Romney may look the part and even appear as the white horse sent to save the republic. But underneath the surface, he’s no Reagan. He’s still fudging it.

Either You Are, Or You Aren't a Renaissance Woman!

A renaissance woman is someone who sets her own agenda for personal achievement and will not allow herself to be manipulated or intimidated by self-proclaimed spokesmen who try and wrap their political philosophies around terms like "equality," "choice," "peace," "tolerance" and "diversity." She understands that she has been created for such a time as this and embraces her destiny as a challenge and not a curse, no matter what her personal circumstances. She is a winner not a whiner, a leader not a follower, a victor, not a victim. She wants to change the paradigm of the feminist movement that has served to marginalize and ridicule women who do not follow their collective agenda.

Millions of women around the country, from all professions, backgrounds and cultures, are courageously picking up the mantel of leadership and virtue, that the feminist movement has squandered. They are providing thoughtful and accurate analysis, on a variety of issues, of where, and who we are as a nation.

Remember, this is not a club. It is a mindset!
