Parents, Listen Up!

This is no longer a nation where kids can be kids anymore. The secular humanists have seen to that. Children have been robbed of their innocence because liberals see them as fair game in their struggle to promote their anti-God agenda. Thanks to groups like the ACLU and People for the American Way, youngsters are literally inundated with sex and violence everywhere they turn. The Barbarians are no longer at the door; they've kicked it down and have taken over the house.“This is why we ought to continue fighting the culture war”restricting pornography and protecting marriage”because to do so is good for our society. But fighting these battles will help us in another way, as well. As Charles Krauthammer noted in Townhall.com, one of the reasons Islam is fighting ˜the great jihad'against America has to do with sexual depravity. The jihadists claim that wherever freedom travels”˜especially in America and Europe”it brings sexual license and corruption, decadence and depravity.'” “ Charles ColsonHere's the important point: America has lost its moral compass and fallen into a pit of depravity, and the whole world knows it. If we're going to emerge from the seemingly bottomless pit we've dug for ourselves and win the culture war, Christians have got to get busy. Our success depends on two factors. First, parents must instill in their children a Christian worldview on a variety of moral issues, from premarital sex and bearing babies out of wedlock, to gambling and drug use. Second, parents must address what's going on in the government-run-institutions-of-indoctrination (otherwise known as public schools). Countless “progressive” teachers are stealthily implanting in student's minds the idea of rejecting their parent's values and adopting a leftist ideology. “The left,” says Melanie Morgan, “does not see education as you and I do, where young people develop critical thinking skills and learn how to make their own decisions. They see it as a training ground “ like al-Qaida sees their training grounds “ a place to indoctrinate young people into their own perverted view of the world.” [1] Case in point: A San Francisco high school principal invited activist Cindy Sheehan to “speak to the students about the evils of America's efforts to combat terrorism and to use her to rally students to oppose the fight against terrorism.”Hard to believe that the principal of a taxpayer-funded school would invite a mouthpiece for the Left to spew anti-war rhetoric while no one in support of the war against terrorism was invited to speak to the students. This kind of thing is happening all over the country! Why are parents putting up with this sort of blatant brainwashing? Parents that disagree with these tactics must lock horns with the teachers that use their classrooms as a Leftist training ground and shout “Enough already!” Morgan also reports that elementary and high school students in Southern California are being encouraged to become street activists to fight for the cause of illegal immigration, even if the only way to attain their objective is anarchy. It would appear that liberals are grooming school-aged children to become good little anarchists. Shouldn't the Right encourage children to fight for the cause of conservatism? Do we have a choice?Since the government schools are now in the business of promoting illegal immigration, it's up to parents to tell their kids why this act has become a cancer on society. Unless your family's been living in the jungles of Borneo for the past four years, your children are aware that there's a raging debate going on over the war in Iraq. Students are hearing why we should pull our troops out of Iraq from the hate-America leftists that are asked to speak in government run schools. To their detriment, kids aren't being told about the good things happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, unless they're hearing it from their parents. Granted, not all teachers withhold important information, but many of them do, so it's up to parents, grandparents and others who care about them to pass on the progress being made in Iraq and to reassure youngsters that we're winning the war on terror. Larry Elder says, “Our effort in Iraq requires commitment and steadfastness.” He's right.Parents that bring their kids up with a Christian worldview will eventually go up against a behemoth called the “gay” rights movement which is trying to normalize their lifestyle and suppress any opposition against it. It's no secret that “gay” and lesbian activist's principal target is school-aged kids. The “gay” movement has been so successful that government run schools openly promote the gay/lesbian agenda. A number of teachers are telling students that sodomy is normal and healthy, even though The American Journal of Public Health studies show otherwise. “Unhealthy sexual behaviors occur among both heterosexuals and homosexuals. Yet the medical and social science evidence indicate that homosexual behavior is uniformly unhealthy. Men having sex with other men leads to greater health risks than men having sex with women, not only because of promiscuity but also because of the nature of sex among men.” [2]Here's a sobering statistic: The average life span for a “gay” man is in the mid 40s if AIDS fails to intervene, the late 30s-to-early-40s if it does. Does that sound like a healthy lifestyle? It boggles the mind to think that the high death rate among “gays” is being hidden from America's kids on purpose. Children deserve to know the truth! It's up to parents to warn their kids about the health hazards inherent in practicing same-sex sex. And don't think for one minute they don't know about “gay” sex. Kids talk! They spill the beans to one another. And if they don't learn it from their peers, they'll get a heavy dose of it from agenda-driven TV shows that come pouring into family rooms all across America. Hollywood glorifies homosexuality! Here's how bad things are getting. The other day I saw a TV ad warning that clamedia is on the rise and can cause cervical cancer in women. “Tell someone,” urged the women in the ad. Now, imagine GLAAD's reaction if a conservative group ran an ad warning viewers of the risks of sodomy, then urging them to, “Tell someone.” Before you could blink they'd be clamoring, “Hate speech!” and immediately file a lawsuit to shut up the opposition.Devvy Kidd wrote an eye-opening commentary exposing what's going on behind the scenes in California, “Homosexuals, lesbians, bisexual, transsexuals, et al, do not reproduce [except in small numbers through artificial insemination], so they must continue to prey on the innocent: your child(ren) and the younger the better. The mega push is on to indoctrinate your teenager into these dangerous and perverted death styles at a rate that is frightening, and yet, Americans sit back, smile and bask in their ability to be "tolerant of others who are different." [3] (Underscore added by author)I don't mean to sound like the Grim Reaper, but America's kids have got to be toughened up before they go out into the world or they won't survive. If they dare to say out loud that homosexuality is morally wrong, they'll be labeled a self-righteous moralist. Or worse! They'll be accused of being intolerant, hateful, ignorant, insensitive, homophobic, or a gay-basher. Name calling and labeling is a political tactic used to bully people. And it works! Kids mustn't let these kinds of insults get under their skin. In the battle to restore morality to America they must be equipped with all the facts. I'm not saying that parents should put a sign in their little ones hand and parade them up and down the streets of San Francisco, proclaiming homosexuals will be struck down by God. I'm suggesting that parents not only develop a Christian worldview but that they start training their kids in worldview and apologetics. Kids that don't have a Christian worldview will absorb the non-Christian worldview from the surrounding culture. In her book, Total Truth, Nancy Pearcey warns parents that young people “must be equipped to analyze and critique the competing worldviews they will encounter when they leave home.” In short, they've got to have the confidence to stand up for themselves in college and the workplace. Turning the other cheek has never deterred a liberal.Make no mistake about it. The far left is winning the battle for the minds and hearts of our children. Alan Sears of the Alliance Defense Fund had this to say about the state of America's kids: “A 2001 poll by Zogby International found that 85 percent of high school seniors supported something called "homosexual rights." Two-thirds supported legalizing same-sex "marriage," and 68 percent favored same-sex couples being allowed to adopt children. Another 79 percent endorsed so-called anti-discrimination laws specifically designed to protect those who engage in homosexual behavior, and 88 percent backed “hate crimes” legislation. That was five years ago. And the numbers are only getting worse. Such attitudes are infecting the whole population, as the organized advocates of the homosexual agenda synchronize and expand their efforts in the courts, in popular entertainment, and even in mainline Protestant churches, steadily eroding the traditional moral standards of our nation. [4]These numbers include children from Christian homes! If these attitudes continue, your little darlings may not have the bright future you envision for them. It's a case of either or -- either Americans take a stand for truth and righteousness, or our kids will fall in lock step with the forces of corruption. The Bible says, “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6). God does not mince words. He expects parents to teach their children to take the moral high ground. The Apostle Paul exhorted Christians to, “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). In this day and age it's virtually impossible for parents to protect their kids. Sooner or later the wolves will start nipping at their heals, so they had better be prepared to fend them off. In the war on values they'll come up against liberals, atheists, cultists, occultists, New Agers, homosexuals, lesbians, transsexuals, transvestites, rabid environmentalists, left-wing professors...the list goes on. How will the future generation triumph over the enemy if they haven't been trained to use the weapons of warfare? If parents don't do the training, who will? A central weapon in a child's arsenal is the “sword of the spirit, which is the word of God.” Simply put, youngsters have got to be armed to the teeth, and a Christian's most feared weapon is the Holy Bible. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:6). Only through knowing the living word of God will children's hearts and souls be aligned with the One true God. When they grow into adulthood they should be equipped to fill the boots of the Bible Answer Man. Children must know what they believe and why they believe it. Most importantly, they have to act like Christians.“Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourselves to the public reading of scripture, to preaching and to teaching¦ Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers” (1 Timothy 4:11-13, 15-16).One final point: A majority of America's kids--Christian or other--are steeped in the culture. They're being exposed to raunchy movies, TV programs, DVDs, music, also graphic violence, explicit sex, even witchcraft, without any guidance from their parents or church leaders. Lewdness has become so commonplace that parents hardly notice it anymore. But Jesus notices. And here's what He says about protecting children: “If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea” (Matthew 18:6).
